Even though Buncombe County Schools Virtual Academy (BCSVA) students only have classes together online, they still have opportunities for a famous school tradition – field trips!
BCSVA elementary students met in Mars Hill on Feb. 17 for hours of fun at Zip N Slip Snow Tubing Park. They raced each other down the park’s six tubing runs, roasted marshmallows over an open fire, and learned about the artificial snowmaking process from owner Andy Cameron.
Second and third grade teacher Kim Ransom, who organized the trip, said it was a great opportunity for the kids to get together in person.
“These trips and activities really strengthen our identity as a community of learners,” she said. “It’s good to see the kids making friends and just having fun,”
